- The Te Whaea sportsfield in Newtown has recently had shock pads installed to meet IRB and FIFA requirements, to provide a better surface and playing experience for users – from both the community and professional arenas.

Vandals attack fake rugby turf…

Artificial turf – a value-for-money plan for the new council to complete

- With the election all over bar the results, I hope that the new Wellington City Council, whoever is elected, will maintain its commitment to completing the artificial turf programme over the next term. Fourteen thousand Wellington football, rugby and league players, plus parents and supporters, all deserve and should expect that.

- t’s pay for play time. Parents, bring your cheque books. John Morrison and colleagues delay a positive vote on artificial pitches by three months and end up with one pitch, part funded by the private sector, meaning low income families may not be able to afford for their kids to play with the rich kids. At least it’s a result:

- But as a coach of a Division 7 football team in Brooklyn, its been a frustrating year with the weather. All to often grounds are closed or games are called off. This is understandable, as its better not to cut the grounds up, and miss out on training or playing on those very same grounds for another 2 weeks or more.
