Its IT stupid
- Mark Greening
- 100 billion pounds. Roughly 300 billion NZ dollars. That’s what the IT sector is worth in the UK. It is nearly rivaling the UK’s financial sector. Will those in central and local government realise they need to be fostering a similar industry in Wellington? http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2010/oct/28/net-worth-100bn-uk

- It seems almost inevitable that if this Wellywood sign goes ahead (all perfectly legal, the bloke from the Council tells me), then it is going to get some “special treatment” metered out in due course. And because we are such a creative lot in Wellington, and because the interwebs is here, let’s see how good [...]

Aisle be Back: All Blacks v Argentina 2.0
- Wellington Club Weekly
- By Kevin McCarthy I predict a Bring Back Fozzie sign will be waved on Saturday at Eden Park. Such is the (all) black humour we may need in the rest of the season. Of course, it wasn’t meant to be this way, yet the Razor honeymoon is already cut short. I wrote a few weeks...

Flashback to 2002: Australia’s first Winter Olympic gold

Opus and the flyover
- Wellington Scoop
- It’s evident that the Wellington consulting company Opus is being employed to give substantial support to the Transport Agency’s plan for a flyover alongside the Basin Reserve. My favourite modernist building … Nordic Pavilion
- Architectural Centre Inc
- Sverre Fehn’s 1962 Nordic Pavilion at the Venice Biennale is a building that transfers Nordic light to Venice. A City for People
- Decades of inaction have meant house prices are out of control, while old rental properties rot out from underneath us. A whole generation of people are at risk of being forced out from the central city into new suburbs sprawling north, spending hours every day in traffic jams. We believe the Spatial Plan will allow Wellington to plan for the future so that new generations of Wellingtonians can share the city we love, and have a chance to live in a home that is affordable, accessible, healthy and warm.
