Fear and Loathing
- WellUrban
- The Dominion Post have followed up their lists of the best and worst buildings in Wellington (selected by the Architectural Centre) by telling us what "we" like and "loathe". It's not clear from the article exactly who "we" are: it seems to be a combination of reader's letters in response to the other lists, random vox pops, pupils from Upper Hutt College, and Russell Walden.

Cinephilia: Opening This Week
- The Wellingtonista
- When times are quiet in the cinema business (as they have been all year) owners respond by opening more and more films and hoping something will stick. This week sees the Penthouse open yet another contemporary British comedy-drama, funded by the UK Film Council using National Lottery funds (much like Happy-Go-Lucky and Brick Lane which are still screening), Grow Your Own.

- 07/03/09 | Wellington Town Hall Words by Crispin Anderlini Photos by Pat Shepherd It was an excited, expectant crowd that welcomed the bluesman in the panama hat to the darkened atmosphere of the Pacific Blue Note Room in Wellington’s Town Hall. Stout Barricade

It’s part of the Litmus series of One Day Sculpture, and this time has been brought to you by artiste duo Heather and Ivan Morison. Dividing Kapiti in two: “it’s madness”
- Wellington Scoop
- This is part of the new $500million expressway which Kapiti Coast residents are concerned will slice through the heart of their district, dividing east from west. The four-lane expressway is being planned by the New Zealand Transport Authority, but the image – showing four lanes cutting through a residential area of Paraparaumu Beach – wasn’t seen till campaigners obtained it by using the Official Information Act.

Te Papa versus the city council
- Wellington Scoop
- While almost everyone else is encouraging the Wellington City Council to cut its spending in order to control the rates, one national organisation is campaigning in the opposite direction. Te Papa is annoyed by the council’s decision to reduce its annual grant from $2.25m to $1m. It has responded by launching a campaign which threatens that Wellington “could miss out” if the grant is reduced.
