Dawn of a New Age; the Prosser Era begins!
- Island Bay United AFC
- <figure class=" sqs-block-image-figure intrinsic " > After yesterdays incredibly exciting news regarding Wynton Rufer’s nascent arrival at the club, today sees the dawn of a new era for the Island Bay United 1st team under the watchful eye of new coach James Prosser. James’ reign begins today with a pre-season warm-up against Palmerston North Red Sox at Wakefield Park at 3:45pm. James has brought an incredibly optimistic mood to the club due to both his personal positivity and also in securing the services of former club legends like Caleb Hilbron, not to mention connecting us with the aforementioned international footballing genius Wynton Rufer. In paraphrasing Churchill, James imparted: “This is not the beginning of the end nor is it the end of the beginning, no, it is the beginning of the beginning” If you have some spare time today why not come down to Wakefield and bask in the windless balmy weather… you may just be witnessing the birth of a reformation with a renaissance to follow. Upper Hutt Football
- Upper Hutt City Football, as the club is now known, was formed following the amalgamation of three separate football clubs. Club football originated in Upper Hutt with the formation of Upper Hutt United in the 1920s and Tararua United formed as an alternative Club in the 1970s. Upper Valley Wanderers formed in the 1980s as an independent Club for Women’s Football. In the late 1990s the three Clubs amalgamated, with new Clubrooms built at Harcourt Park, as the Tararua Sports Club. A meeting convened in 1998 agreed that all football teams would play as Upper Hutt City Soccer in acknowledgement of the club’s links with and support from the local Upper Hutt City community.
