- This is my last article as President . While I am sad to be leaving The Group I am pleased to say Dick Greenbank ZL2TGQ will be stepping into the President’s role. Dick’s co-optation by the Committee was supported at the last General Meeting and I am confident we will be in safe hands. read more

Interesting discussion over at Eye Of The Fish
- Save the Basin Reserve!
- Wellington architecture blog Eye Of The Fish has an interesting discussion on the Memorial Parkway, the strip of land in front of the War Memorial in Buckle Street that was intended by the last government as an extension of the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior. Given the proximity of this area to the Basin Reserve, there's been some conjecture that the two projects would end up being linked by the transport planners. It's worth taking a look at both the original article and the comments that follow.

Headsup: Belmont 710 off the air for a few days.
- Wellington VHF Group
- Peter ZL3TC advises that the Belmont 710 repeater (147.100 Mhz) is off the air for a few days for a well deserved holiday. 7075 at Colonial Knob remains availalable, and National System services at Belmont are unaffected.

Submission document for the Regional Land Transport Management Programme
- Save the Basin Reserve!
- Worryingly, the Council has placed the Basin Reserve flyover as number two on its list of priorities, which raises the very real danger that they will proceed with this ill-conceived project as a matter of urgency. We're therefore asking supporters to put in a submission reqesting that the project be dropped.

We are an Easter People
- Wellington Cathedral of Saint Paul
- An extraordinary comment was relayed to me on Palm Sunday. On being given a flyer detailing the Holy Week and Easter services, someone remarked, “I don’t know why they do all these services then – everyone goes away at Easter!” Is this really where we have come to – that not even Christian people know what Easter is about?
