Notebook: Willis Street
- Wellington Scoop
- Not everything on Willis Street is as lively and appealing. Near the intersection with Lambton Quay, a retailer is still being sought for a big empty space on the ground floor of the black tower which used to be the Bank of New Zealand before it moved to Auckland. “A world of possibilities,” says a hopeful sign in the window. And south of Unity, on the corner of Grey Street, there’s another empty shop. (It used to sell surf wear.) Reminders that there’s a recession, even if it isn’t being talked about much.

Review: Clybourne Park
- The Wellingtonista
- In 1959 a couple sell their house. At 3pm on a Saturday afternoon, their neighbours casually call in to see how packing is going. During the friendly discussion information about the buyers is revealed and tempers flare. In 2009 members of a community meet at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon to discuss neighborhood covenants before the new couple in the community start making alterations. Although their lives seem similar on the surface, their motivations are different, setting up conflict.

Looking for new bloggers
- Cycling in Wellington
- It spring – time for growing! So we’re putting the call out for some new blogging ‘blood’ to join our teams in Cycling in Auckland, Cycling in Wellington and Cycling in Christchurch! This is your opportunity to have people around the world hanging off your every word, waiting with baited breath for your latest observation or insightful idea, become a household name (well certain households anyway), join the growing fraternity of self-made bicycle blogging celebrities. Alternatively, if fame is not your thing, come up with an alter ego … a pen name, a ‘nom de plume’. The freedom of having an a.k.a is fabulous! The process of blogging is very simple (just like writing and email really) so you don’t need any technical knowledge, just the impulse to share your ideas and thoughts. So, if I’ve wetted your appetite and you would like to find out more, just drop me a line at unity.finesmith@gmail.com or contact me on twitter, facebook or through the contact pages on any of the websites.
