- 2025 is our 75th anniversary This month in our history ~ May 1968 Roots In our production of Roots Jenny Frost had to take an on-stage bath. During one performance the tub of water was accidentality overturned by an overzealous stage hand. Jenny was not the only one who wore the bath water that night. Director Bob Cater was not amused. It was noted in the Kapi Mana News that "As part of the society's policy of making theatre available to as wide an audience as possible, the admission price is only 45 cents."

Words she never thought belonged to her as a young teenager struggling through school, getting into regular fights, dropping out and battling mental health issues. Coven - Hollywood to Broadway
- Porirua Little Theatre
- 31 October to 9 November 2024 This cabaret experience will take you on a celebration of musical excellence from stage and screen throughout the decades. Performed by a powerhouse ensemble cast, and featuring some of the best songs from movies and musicals such as Beetlejuice, Jekyll and Hyde, Witches of Eastwick and Heathers, you will be blown away by the vocals, and the storytelling. Set in an intimate cabaret style and with table and platter options available, make a night of it with whānau and enjoy some good wine, and a night to remember as you journey from Hollywood to Broadway.

Put together by the highly successful Hollywood to Broadway team, with a cast oozing talent and timing aligned with Halloween, Coven is sure to bewitch and entertain its audiences. The Committee continues to hone our processes and procedures, finalising our 2025 programme including of course the celebrations of our 75th year! Vessel broken down requiring tow

- Operation Details Date/Time: Thu, 31/01/2019 - 19:45 - 21:45 Operation Type: CG Operation (good samaritan) People Assisted: 2 Total Volunteer Hours: 10 Aborted training Session and went to aid of vessel broken down 2 NM from Porirua Harbour entrance on way to Mana Island. Took under tow 14 foot fibreglass vessel "Catch U Up". Found 50 M off Titahi Bay Point 10M North of entrance to Titahi Bay. Rough surf, vessel under anchor and 2 POB wearing life jackets. Towed to Mana Marina and drove the to their trailer under the bridges. Commuting by bicycle in Wellington
- Cycling in Wellington
- In the past few years the number of people I see on bikes riding from Newtown to town in the morning has literally quadrupled. Unfortunately, many of the people I see stopped at the lights are on seriously terrible bikes. I’m see rusty, too-big or too-small mountain bikes with brakes that barely work and people look unconfident and uncomfortable on their bikes. Riding the wrong bike can actually make cycling seriously not fun. Recently several of my colleagues have gotten bicycles with the intention of cycling to work. I have noticed that they too seem to have missed some items that to me are essential for bike commuting. Namely:

Porirua Grand Traverse 2013

- Operation Details Date/Time: Sun, 07/04/2013 - 06:30 - 13:00 Operation Type: Other People Assisted: 100 Total Volunteer Hours: 52 Coastguard Mana coordinated the on-water support of the kayak and waka ama legs of the Porirua Grand Traverse multi-sport event. We provided CRV Pelorus and a jetski to work alongside other rescue vessels from Titahi Bay Boating Club and Wellington Rowing Association in monitoring paddlers while they travelled from Whitireia Polytech, under the bridges and then back again. Missing swimmer at Titahi Bay- Day 2

- Operation Details Date/Time: Sun, 15/01/2012 - 08:00 - 13:30 Operation Type: SAROP Cat 1 People Assisted: 1 Total Volunteer Hours: 82 The search for the missing swimmer at Titahi Bay resumed at 0800 on Sunday morning. A large search was performed by Coastguard Mana's vessels Trust Porirua Rescue and CRV Pelorus. Shoreline searches were performed around the whole of Mana Island and all the way down the West coast as far as Makara Beach, while Titahi Bay Surf Lifesaving Club covered the shoreline and immediate area around Titahi Bay. Sea conditions were very rough with 1-2m waves and up to 30 knots of NW wind (slightly less than the previous day). Missing swimmer at Titahi Bay

- Operation Details Date/Time: Sat, 14/01/2012 - 16:00 - 20:30 Operation Type: SAROP Cat 1 People Assisted: 1 Total Volunteer Hours: 40 Coastguard Mana was tasked to search for a missing swimmer at Titahi Bay after a group of swimmers were caught in a rip. Emergency services responded to reports of a group of four swimmers in trouble at about 4pm. Most of the group were rescued but one was still unaccounted for. CRV Trust Porirua Rescue has been searching in conjunction with Westpac Rescue and Titahi Bay Surf Lifesaving Club since 1700, while CRV Pelorus had to turn back due to severe sea conditions. TPR returned to base at 2030 and will resume the search early on Sunday morning.
