Bus corridors, paying for Park and Ride and pets on public transport up for consultation in Wellington plan
- Greater Wellington Regional Council
- New regional bus corridors, paying for parking at train station Park and Rides, and pets on public transport are among public consultation topics in the draft Wellington Regional Public Transport Plan 2025-2035. Feedback is also being sought on cash free buses and the redevelopment of Waterloo Station into a transport hub with commercial and community spaces. Greater Wellington chair Daran Ponter says the plan proposes affordable investments that improve the passenger experience and encourage people away from using private vehicles.

WRC Masters have great success at Masters Nationals in Twizel
- Wellington Rowing Club
- WRC Masters came away with a large medal haul at Masters Nationals in Twizel. Final count was 4 Gold, 3 Silver and 6th Bronze. Everyone was delighted with their medals, with WRC finishing 6th out of 33 Clubs attending based on points. Our Masters have certainly stepped it up a notch!

Wellington City Rural Fire Force
- The Wellington Regional Council formed the WCRFF in 1993. Originally the Force shared residence with the Wellington Free Ambulance at Newtown. The Force moved to its’ own station in Burma Road Johnsonville, in December 1999 and stayed there for 3 ½ years. As the crew numbers increased and the purchase of the tanker the Wellington City Council moved our location to Tawa Depot on the 12th July 2003. Our current station gives us the opportunity to increase our crew numbers to our desired benchmark of 30 as well as housing our entire fleet, which currently consists of 6 vehicles, 4 trailers and a Communication Caravan.
