Wellington Under 17 team is named to attend the 2015/2016 National Tournament

- The Wellington Under 17 team to attend the National Under 17 Tournament to be held in Lincoln from January 13th to the 21st is as follows: Rachin Ravindra (HIBS) (Captain) Zac Aldridge (St Pats Town) Niko Brooky (Wellington College) Jakob Bhula (Wellington College) Tim Campbell (Wellington College) Luke Georgeson (St Pats Town) Nick Greenwood (Wellington College) Hamish Johns (St Pats Town) Chris Leitch (Onslow) Callum McLauchlin (St Pats Silverstream) Nick Pile (Onslow College) Gareth Severin (Wellington College) Hayden Smith (Newlands College) Five players return from last year’s team while Captain Rachin Ravindra will be attending his third Under 17 tournament. Ravindra was last week named player of the tournament during HIBS outstanding win at the National Secondary School 1xt XI finals. Nick Pile is another returning player who has been in outstanding form this season. Both Nick and Rachin will also be representing Wellington at the Under 19 Nationals this week.

Mau Whenua | Save Shelly Bay
- Mau Whenua is a collective of Taranaki Whānui iwi members who made their opposition to proposed sale of iwi land at Shelly Bay known in late 2015 and early 2016. The land at Shelly Bay is highly significant and represents over 50% of the value of Taranaki Whānui Treaty Settlement assets in Wellington. The term Mau Whenua describes those who oppose land sales, and are determined to hold onto land and engage in environmentally and socially constructive development.
