      • Six major sports organisations have agreed to improve the experience for players and parents by aligning their respective season transition dates. In a first for Wellington, College Sport Wellington, Netball Central, Wellington Hockey, Capital Football, Wellington Rugby, and Cricket Wellington have unanimously agreed to align their season structures when the winter sport season commences in Term 2.       • In September we learned that Dr Carol West, Chair of the Ōtari-Wilton’s Bush Trust (OWBT), was to be awarded the Allan Mere for 2022. The Allan Mere is awarded by the New Zealand Botanical Society to recognize outstanding botanists who make significant contributions to New Zealand botany. The pounamu mere is named after Harry Howard Allan – the first Director of the former DSIR Botany Division, and author of the first volume of the DSIR New Zealand Flora series.

    • Future of Metlink On Demand to be decided by Greater Wellington 
      • The next steps for Metlink’s ‘On Demand’ public transport trial will be decided at a Greater Wellington Transport Committee meeting on 22 June. Metlink On Demand is a flexible, shared transport solution that has been trialling in Tawa and Grenada North since May 2022. Passengers use an app to request pick up and drop off at locations across the suburbs. To date the service has been well received by the community with 40,000+ trips and overall customer satisfaction measured at 96%.
