Weekly Bulletin: Staying connected as a church - 26 October 2025
- St John's in the City
- Kia ora St John’s whānau, This week is Reformation Sunday, where we celebrate that over 500 years ago, a monk with a hammer (Martin Luther) nailed a few discussion points to a church door—and ended up reshaping the whole Church! Reformation Sunday reminds us that faith isn’t about earning God’s love, but receiving it freely through grace …and a good excuse to sing “A Mighty Fortress”.

Three of Our Own to Represent NZ at 2025 Trans-Tasman Masters Challenge
- Northern United Hockey Club
- We’re absolutely stoked to share that three of our Northern United lads have been named in the New Zealand squads for the 2025 Trans-Tasman Masters Challenge! A huge congrats to: Peter Thomas – NZ Men’s 65s Aaron Clulow – NZ Men’s 50s Jason Neilson – NZ Men’s 50s What a bloody awesome achievement! Pulling on the black shirt is no small thing, and we couldn’t be prouder to see these legends representing Aotearoa across the ditch. Pete, Loosie, and Jase are long-time club men who always give their all on and off the field. They’re great role models for the rest of us – proving that top-level hockey doesn’t stop just because you’ve had a few more birthdays. All the best for the challenge, fellas . We’ll be backing you all the way!

- It’s quite simple: we aim to restore ecological health to the Miramar Peninsula. More specifically, we’d like to see every household on the peninsula include 25 % or more of local native plants. We practises eco-sourcing to maintain the distinctiveness of local flora. By boosting rare plant life and controlling introduced mammalians we can bring nature in to our urban community, raising property values and fostering a sense of identity and well-being.
