Handmade is the best Made
- The Wellingtonista
- Autumn is upon us, and seasons changing means only one thing in the Wellington Craft World. It's Knack time. Knack time being this saturday from 9.30am till 2.30pm at Berhampore School. Knack is a glorious seasonal market which also doubles as a school fundraiser. So you get to buy handmade from the artist which is grand and then know that you are also helping out a school. It's like double doing good, with shopping . Knack's full of lovely handmade things, and is often where some of Wellington's newests crafters make their selling debut, so it's a great market for those of you wanting to be ahead of the. There's loads of parking at the school or catch the bus and amble up the hill.

Downstage tribute to Martyn Sanderson
- Downstage Theatre
- It is with great sorrow that the Board, Staff and Members of Downstage Theatre, received news of the passing last night of founder and former director, Martyn Sanderson. Martyn was one of several visionary Wellingtonians who worked together in 1963 and 1964 to start Downstage, New Zealand's first professional theatre, and he appeared in or directed many early productions, including starring with Peter Bland in the first production on the Cambridge Terrace site: Edward Albee's Zoo Story.

Pauatahanui Public Burial Ground Trust Deed
- Pauatahanui Residents Association
- The renovation of Pataka Museum’s storage area in 2017 brought to light two documents that are probably the oldest existing paper records of early Porirua. In 1856 the village of Pahautanui (now called Pauatahanui) was the only settlement in the Porirua area. Thomas Hollis Stace, who had arrived with his family from Tasmania in 1853, bought a piece of land on the southern edge of the village. He saw that the village lacked a school, church and cemetery; so he donated an acre of his land to help fill these gaps. The details of this generous gift were set down on two sheets of parchment on 6 December 1856, and it is this 161-year-old Trust Deed that has emerged from the Pataka storeroom.

- Friends of Te Papa, formerly Friends of the National Art Gallery, was founded to encourage involvement with the gallery and support the acquisition of new works for the collection. For more than 20 years, our valued Friends of Te Papa members have supported Te Papa by contributing to Te Papa’s collections through the purchase of artworks, taonga, and other collection items, by regularly visiting Te Papa to view exhibitions and attending a wide range of programmes.

Friends of Maara Roa
- Maara Roa is a forest restoration project at Cannons Creek Valley near Porirua. Its purpose is to restore the Bush back to what it was before the people who ruined it came. The project started in 2000, after some gorse fires destroyed yet more sections of native bush. A small group of people met to see if something could be done to stop it. The Friends of Maara Roa grew from that.

The life and times of James Walter Chapman-Taylor
- ‘The life and times of James Walter Chapman-Taylor’ enables us to enter into the life and times of a man, a family, a society, and ways of thinking and acting different to, yet not so distant from, our own. We enter the world of an architect, who is also an artist; builder, craftsman; a theosophist, an astrologer, a photographer, a furniture maker.
