Il Secondo Casino

- Thanks to Kegan for drawing my attention to this article in today's Dominion Post: the Bresolin family wants to reopen Il Casino. Since the closure was announced in July, and the sale of the building confirmed in September, many Wellingtonians have felt a sense of loss, so this is indeed good news.

Buses, but not so rapidly
- Wellington Scoop
- Will the latest developments in planning a new Wellington bus system provide the rapid transit that was originally promised? Our local bodies (the city council and the regional council, working with the Transport Agency) have chosen “two options” to be investigated for the development of “modern, faster public transport” for Wellington City. But the announcement reads as if they know nothing about the city’s layout. And as for cycleways, it’s obvious that till now these haven’t been given any consideration at all.

A City for People
- Decades of inaction have meant house prices are out of control, while old rental properties rot out from underneath us. A whole generation of people are at risk of being forced out from the central city into new suburbs sprawling north, spending hours every day in traffic jams. We believe the Spatial Plan will allow Wellington to plan for the future so that new generations of Wellingtonians can share the city we love, and have a chance to live in a home that is affordable, accessible, healthy and warm.
