Wellington's new hospital - front-of-house is blessed and ready to go!
- Capital & Coast District Health Board
- A Maori blessing ceremony of the main public entrance areas at Wellington Regional Hospital has cleared the way for the departments which will start moving into the new Wellington Regional Hospital building in the months ahead. While inpatient areas (ie: wards) won't move until February/March next year, a number of services are moving sooner. For example Radiology moves into the new building in early November 2008 and Main Outpatients moves in during January 2009. Both of those services will see a large number of people entering the building (many via the underground carpark - which is for patients and families) and crossing the main Atrium to get to and from their appointments in those departments.

Cuba Street and Cuba Mall
- Wellington's Cuba Street is pedestrian-only from Manners Mall to Ghuznee Street, where it is called Cuba Mall. With its retailers ranging from leading retailers like Farmers and Whitcoulls through to R18 shops and tattoo artists, its numerous cafes and bars, clothing, book and record shops draw people from all around the region for what only Wellington's Cuba can offer.
