- A busy month in comparison to the rest of the year - 6 calls so far. * Hay shed fire Carterton on 6th May 2016 * Truck and trailer accident Blue Mountains Road on 10th May 2016 * Vehicle stuck in the river Totora Park Bridge on 11th May 2016 * Vehicle accident Rimutaka Hill on 13th May 2016 * Empty horse float blown over on Rimutaka Hill on 13th May 2016 * Gas explosion at apartment Eastern Hutt Road on 20th May 2016

Ute stuck in the river under the Totara Park Bridge on 11th May 2016
- Hutt Valley Fire Police Unit
- Drill had just finished when Rimutaka 491 was called for the rescue of 2 people stuck on their ute in the middle of the river. We were paged not long after for lighting. At the scene we also managed traffic (one way) across the bridge, provided gate access key for crews to get under the bridge and 2 life jackets (courtesy of SO English) for the rescue operation. Truck and Trailer Crash on Blue Mountains Road on 10th May 2016
- Hutt Valley Fire Police Unit
- The unit was called to close the road at the top and bottom of Blue Mountains road while the truck was removed. Also there were 17 bulls on the loose that had to be rounded up and penned for the night. Pictures to follow.....

Hay Shed Fire Carterton on 6th May 2016
- Hutt Valley Fire Police Unit
- The unit was requested for lighting and canteen at a hay shed fire in Carterton. The hay shed was fully involved when we arrived. Here is a great example of how effective 3 of our lights were to light up the scene. Pictures to follow....

Scrub Fire Upper Hutt - 5th Feb
- Hutt Valley Fire Police Unit
- Early in the evening HWOSU responded to a small scrub fire in Whitemans Vally Upper Hutt which soon developed into a large fire taking off up the hill. Unit assisted with road closures, traffic and crowd control. To read about this fire, check out the story on Stuff here

Fire Call Sun 31st Aug 2014 Trinity Hotel Lower Hutt
- Hutt Valley Fire Police Unit
- The unit was paged for a second alarm (very quickly upgraded to 3rd alarm) structure fire at the Trinity Hotel, Queens Drive, Lower Hutt. HWOS along with assistance from the Wainuiomata Operational Support unit took over control of the road closure from police as soon as we arrived. During the course of the day the unit also set up canteen, escorted residents through the smoke damaged portion of the building to collect personal belongings and assisted fire safety with lighting capability.

- with the shocking weather across the country HWOSU had 3 call outs in a space of an hour, ranging from power lines down, flooding and scene protection

Kiwi Storage building fire - 4th April
- Hutt Valley Fire Police Unit
- HWOSU were paged in the morning to assist Wellington Operational Support at the 5th alarm building fire in Kilbirnie. Unit members took over various tasks from Wellington so they could stand down to rest. Some of the taks involved traffic and crowd control, escort duties, K19, supply runs, refuling etc. Wellington came back on deck later in the adternoon with our members standing down for a couple of hours before our assistanace was requested once again. Building Fire - Petone 1st April 2014

- HWOSU were paged in the early hours of the morning to a 2nd alarm building fire in Sydney Street. Fire was under control once we reached the scene,unit provided traffic control.

KFC Upper Hutt Building Fire - 7th Feb 2014

- In the early hours of Friday morning the unit was called upon for traffic control and road closures for the small fire in the KFC building in Upper Hutt.

Building Fire - 20th Jan 2014

- HWOSU were paged to a k99 well involved structure fire last night at the old Petone Collage. The hall was well alight with smoke billowing out which could be seen from Wellington and Upper Hutt. Members assisted with road closures, scene and crowd control and lighting
