      • While it might have been a little damp and chilly, it was a fantastic start to the 2019 edition of the Barton Marine Winter Series.While a few boats decided it was to wet and cold to sail (I think they might have forgotten it is winter series), we still had 60 boats out there on the water.Provisional results for the day can now be found here.

Contact made with Police SAR doing area observations and a parralel track and directed trackline search assisted in locating a fishng canoe look alike log. The job shows the importance of  reports from the public and that usingt 111 to report when concerned for someones safety is always a good thing to do.       • Operation Details Date/Time:  Tue, 04/06/2019 - 07:00 - 09:00 Operation Type:  CG Operation (good samaritan) People Assisted:  2 Total Volunteer Hours:  12 Jackjumper had come from nelson overnight, hit a storm in Cook Strait and decided to run into Pororua harbour at night. Tired crew and nsufficient local knowledge and did not follow the lights and ran aground several times on the way before sticking onthe sandbank outside the Marina on a rising tide and wind blowing him onto the breakwater MR1 with 4 crew attended, putting 1 crew on JackJumper to assist, towed Jackjumper to deep water and she then motored safely into the marina breastworks Mother and son onboard Vessel Details Length:  10.00m Resources Attendees:  Chris Darch Jake Neil Cornwell Polarbear Trevor Burgess Trevor Farmer CRV's Used:  CRV Trust Porirua Rescue

      • Operation Details Date/Time:  Tue, 04/06/2019 - 07:00 - 09:00 Operation Type:  CG Operation (good samaritan) People Assisted:  2 Total Volunteer Hours:  12 A yacht had come from Nelson overnight, hit a storm in Cook Strait and decided to run into Porirua Harbour at night.     • Fishing vessel broken down near Boom Rock

      • Operation Details Date/Time:  Sat, 13/04/2019 - 11:30 - 15:30 Operation Type:  CG Operation (good samaritan) People Assisted:  2 Total Volunteer Hours:  20 6m alluminium commercial fishing boat with 2 people on board broken down and at anchor near the shore just north of Boom Rock. The conditions at the time were rough with a 25-35kt southerly, but the vessel was tucked in near the coast. After moving a couple of times the last time appears to have drained the battery while lifting the anchor and they couldn't get the enging started.       • Three scouts (that I am aware of) attended the Mud Slide 2019 at Pukera Bay den on Saturday.  The grins were huge on all the faces I saw.  Seth, Rosie and Calvin all had a fantastic time.  Below are a few pictures of them (I missed Seth, so there aren't any of him).
