We like to play games
- The Wellingtonista
- You know how it goes – you have no food or booze in your home so you need to leave the house, so you text your friends to see if they want to meet you somewhere, and so they do, and you get food and you get booze, and that’s a good thing, but then UGH, you’re stuck talking to your friends.

Talking books with dame jane campion
- Katherine Mansfield House
- On Tuesday 1 November we had the privilege of hosting Dame Jane Campion for a fundraising event to support Katherine Mansfield House & Garden. Unsurprisingly for an award-winning filmmaker, Dame Jane knows how to tell a story. She also knows the power of stories and shared how reading has been so essential to her life. Here are some of the books and writers she mentioned.

The Wellingtonista guide to drinking for free
- The Wellingtonista
- Now, don't get me wrong: we Wellingtonistas are not usually parsimonious when it comes to paying for drinks. On the other hand, we're a canny and logical bunch, and it only takes about 10 free glasses of house wine to save up enough for a Mega Mai Tai, so in the long run it pays to seek out gratis grog. Let's start with the obvious: gallery openings and launches.

Wellington is facing rising sea levels
- Bryan Pepperell - Back To The Future
- At the Wellington City Council Strategy and Policy Committee briefing of December 1 we were shown a computer model of the areas of Wellington that would be flooded by sea level rise as a consequence of global warming. One of the areas that may be impacted is the site of the Indoor Sports Centre. There is no doubt there will be consequences that will be beyond our control even if Wellington were to reduce green house gas emissions.

A City for People
- Decades of inaction have meant house prices are out of control, while old rental properties rot out from underneath us. A whole generation of people are at risk of being forced out from the central city into new suburbs sprawling north, spending hours every day in traffic jams. We believe the Spatial Plan will allow Wellington to plan for the future so that new generations of Wellingtonians can share the city we love, and have a chance to live in a home that is affordable, accessible, healthy and warm.
