All carnivalled out
- WellUrban
- Well, that was one hell of a party. There was even a bit of politics after all, after it was announced that Falun Dafa had been banned from the parade, and in the end they turned up anyway. There were even some rare and wondrous apparitions during the parade: actual buses!

Car-nival
- WellUrban
- 's going to be huge, of course. This weekend's Cuba St Carnival is set to be the biggest yet, with some unmissable acts on the Main Stage and even the Courtenay Place bars getting in on the act. The open-ended consent means that its future is secure, and you can get there by bus for only $1 (assuming that there are any drivers available). Some of us are getting very excited indeed about the weekend, and with luck even the weather might come to the party.

No Go Wellington
- WellUrban
- When Infratil took over Stagecoach Wellington, I was cautiously optimistic: after all, who wouldn't prefer our buses to be owned by a local company rather than a multinational with an atrocious industrial relations reputation?

Reserve your copy of Harry Potter
- Wellington City Libraries
- 'Harry Potter and the deathly hallows' is due for release on July 21st. You can place a reserve here. We're buying heaps of copies and there'll be a quick turnover. Of course, if you don't want a 10-year-old who read the entire thing on the first day to tell you who dies, then you may have to buy a copy.

Those were the days...
- The Wellingtonista
- From the newly relaunched NZ History website comes this wee gem from Today in History (actually, next week's Monday, but I couldn't wait to post it)... Two Wellington lawyers, W.V. Brewer and H. Ross, drew pistols over a legal difference in Wellington. Brewer fired into the air but 'received Mr. Ross' ball in the groin'. He died several days later. Ouch.

Mystery Matt Breaks Toe
- Land Rovers Football Club
- Three days out from the final against Ten Left Feet, star striker Mystery Matt has broken his toe in an outdoor five a side game. "The lad is quite keen on the game but he was out training against orders" said Land Rovers Manager Steve Hall "and now he'll be out until after the final". Hall said Rovers were underdogs for the final anyway so this would certainly make Ten Left Feet favourite with the bookmakers.

Bus Angst #32
- The Wellingtonista
- Two words: bloody buses. Actually, here's a few more. This particular Wellingtonista had to wait forty minutes last evening for even one bus to turn up on his route. Of course, when one did, it was packed to the gunnels, so it sailed by the stop, as did the next, and the next.

White Out
- Land Rovers Football Club
- With the final Grand Final line up yet to be named, the availability of star defender come goal scorer Ben White is in doubt. "Apparently Ben is going up north for a while" said Land Rovers Manager Steve Hall "he's decided that Whangarei might be a good spot to spend a few days". Hall said obviously White would be missed but negotiations were still underway to ensure that White starts in the final line up.

- WellUrban
- Cuba Street is continuing to evolve, and some of the shifting around is due to big changes at the upper end. We're yet to see much activity around Car-O Drive, but the first retail units in The Wellington complex are just coming on line.

Didja feel that one?
- The Wellingtonista
- Well, did you? More info once every other man and his dog stops hammering the GeoNet website. Update. Well, there ya go: a 4.8 shake, focal point 50km deep, 30km west of {Porirua}, out in Cook Strait. A decent rattle. (And if you did feel it, report your experience here. Do your bit for science.)

Digging holes for poles.
- T3 Track Blog
- A quick session on T3 to cement the posts in ready for the work party on The Skinks Back in the middle of October 2006. Hard work getting all the timber down to the site but thanks to Stu from the Council not as hard as it could have been. That work party was canceled due to weather and it was not until Feburary 2007 that we got back to make a start on the critter.
