We did remind him regularly of his Australian heritage, but we still warmly welcomed him into Scottish when he joined in 1988. When Bob joined, he […]

Vector price gouging
- Bryan Pepperell - Back To The Future
- The Dompost called Denis Foot's recent letter relating to Vector over charging customers and his naming Mayors and Councillors who facilitated the sale of Capital Power, a case of "Ex-councillor berates others" but we think otherwise. Mr Foot makes a very valid point and we think it timely to remind Wellington's citizens of some political history.

The discounts, which let children under-13 ride for free, and under 25-year-olds at half price, can be introduced by Public Transport Authorities, when possible, from 1 July.

Mount Street Cemetery
- The Mount Street Cemetery was the first cemetery in Wellington for Catholic burials and contains the graves of the first nuns and priests in Wellington. It remained open until 1891 although burials continued in existing family plots until 1954. The earliest surviving grave marker dates from 1851, and the latest from 1954. Although only around 200 headstones survive, it is estimated that there could have been as many as 750 to 800 burials. Many of the early markers were simple wooden crosses, which have long since vanished.
