Gentle giants return to the mainland
- Karori Sanctuary Trust
- On Sunday 11 February, volunteers, trustees, iwi representatives and invited dignitaries will watch as up to 100 Cook Strait giant weta (Deinacrida rugosa) are released back into the wild at Wellington’s award-winning Karori Wildlife Sanctuary. This will be the first attempt to re-establish this species on the mainland since they became extinct here over a century ago.

- Wednesday 11 August 2010: Stream's Jazz Band jammed with members of Christchurch Boys' High School today as the Christchurch school passed through as part of their 2010 Road Trip. The Road Trip included participation at Blenheim's jazz-focussed Southern Jam Festival and visits to schools in Palmerston North and Wellington. Tonight they perform a concert in Wellington.

- Operation Details Date/Time: Tue, 11/09/2018 - 11:30 - 13:30 Operation Type: SAROP Cat 1 People Assisted: 2 Total Volunteer Hours: 10 Police callout (incident # P034833430), Jetski Broken down off Plimmerton Beach, 2 POB. On arrival on scene, 2 POB were in the water and had been so for 2.5 hours holding the jetski off the reef. The POB's were brought onto the CRV and the jetski was taken under tow. Space blankets were provided and they were evaluated. One patient was shivering and the other was sluring his words and hesitated before answering questions. An ambulance was called to meet the CRV at Mana Cruising Club and the jetski was taken under tow.
