Rasa Malaysia – top eats near the top’o Cuba

- Over the past couple of months I have been reviewing Malaysian restaurants all around Wellington for Malaysia Kitchen (full disclosure – I got refunded some of the costs). It’s time to share the reviews! A freezing southerly was blowing around Wellington when I met with a group of friends at Rasa Malaysia on Upper Cuba Street, pushing all thoughts of trying something new out of my mind. The weather meant I had to have my favourite laksa.

The power of Voodoo (who do?)

Review: Lagerfield
- The Wellingtonista
- Last year, for the second time in a row, Team Wellingtonista won the Webstock Pub Quiz (we intend to win it this year too, by the way). Our prize was a $300 tab for Lagerfield at 21 Blair Street. Having been there late at night when it was full of munters, I was not overwhelmed with enthusiasm, but as it turns out, it was a lovely experience.

Betty's - 3 October, 32 Blair Street
- Texture
- There seemed to be a big ol’ hype machine at work before Betty’s even opened to the public. I guess this could be expected, mostly due to the fact that new bars have been a little thin on the ground in recent times (but boy has that changed, with more rumoured to be on the way for summer).

The Library - 03 October, Level 1, 53 Courtenay Place
- Texture
- God I used to love Cabaret. It was an impressive cocktail bar-slash-music venue that really complimented its neighbouring establishments of Chow and Motel. 2009 brings something different, with the library stepping into Cabaret’s luxurious bar space. My first thought when hearing about the new venue was “what’s with the name?” but in the face of such handsomely titled places as “El Horno” and “Sports Cafe” I was willing to give The Library a pass on this one.
