    • Scattered Wreckage
      • Four years ago a bunch of Newtown friends started getting together for a weekly fun “session” upstairs at the Office Bar. This evolved into “The Thirsty Night Music Club” playing an eclectic collection of country bluegrass and Americana covers. These days they are Scattered Wreckage with an all originals set assembled from the works of the five songwriters in the lineup.

    • Wellington Storm prizegiving 2023
      • Earlier this month, our annual prizegiving took place at Miramar Bowling Club - and despite some classic Wellington weather, there was a great turnout from club members and their families. Angus Stallmann, as acting president, gave a summary of the year (including tournaments Storm had attended or hosted, and how Storm players had performed on the international stage) before prize winners were announced. With the formalities out of the way, the rest of the evening involved a good amount of food, socialising, and a dose of nostalgia with a ‘name the player’ game of old Storm photos.

It also benefits people who are unfamiliar with public transport, anyone catching a route they don’t normally use, and visitors to the region. • Friends of Maara Roa
      • Maara Roa is a forest restoration project at Cannons Creek Valley near Porirua. Its purpose is to restore the Bush back to what it was before the people who ruined it came. The project started in 2000, after some gorse fires destroyed yet more sections of native bush. A small group of people met to see if something could be done to stop it. The Friends of Maara Roa grew from that.
