First XI Cricket beats St Bede's in Cliffhanger
- St Patricks College, Silverstream
- Tuesday 16 March 2010: In a cliffhanger ending, the First XI Cricket team has beaten St Bede's of Christchurch to bring home the Cup. Stream had to win outright to regain the trophy while St Bede's only had to bat out the day for a draw. Declaring early on Day Three after a knock of 101 by Ben Rammell, captain Brandon Tai set St Bede's a target of 280 to win: and a target for his own team of getting all ten wickets! At 5.15 pm this afternoon, the last wicket fell and Stream had won. A fantastic performance by the whole team. The Tennis team played earlier in the day against a strong St Bede's team, eventually losing the series.

Making porridge pancakes: Te Aro Park
- Architectural Centre Inc
- I haven’t been down to the container exhibition of WCC’s Wellington 2040 vision, but am looking forward to doing so soon. What I have seen is the recent post over on EyeoftheFish, which gives us a sneak preview of a small part of the type of outcome that might be expected to emerge from that vision: in this case, a new green space where the Oaks building is currently sited. As the Fish reports, that site has been the subject of many suggestions for ‘improvement,’ some of which are captured in this thread. A particularly intriguing one was the suggestion of a ‘Flatiron’/wedge-shaped building on Te Aro Park, and a park where Oaks currently is – a swap of building for open space and vice versa.

Wagamama joins Mojo at Kumutoto
- Eye of the Fish
- In what appears to be one of Wellington’s more anticipated restaurant openings for years, a branch of the international noodle bar Wagamama has opened in the Meridian building, and already queues are forming out the door: indeed, breaking all Australasian records for turnover in a first week, despite it being the middle of a very bleak winter. It evidently has been a phenomenal success.

Island Bay Presbyterian Church
- We are a diverse church, diverse in age, theologies and worship styles. Despite this we have a common vision, a common commitment to support one another, and a common desire to follow in the way of Jesus. Our life together mainly revolves around our 10am Sunday worship service.
