      • Congratulations to Erin Little on winning the A Grade champion of champions match with 196.9. In club shooting Josh Whitehead recorded the highest D Grade score of 93.1, ahead of Wynter Tickle with 92.1.  Many 20‑shot targets were shot, with top honours going to David Grain 198.10 followed by Dianne Grain 196.11, while Jaz Hamilton recorded a new 20‑shot PB of 186.6. It was fantastic to see so many this week taking the initiative in getting gear out and putting it away, cleaning club rifles, and undertaking target changing and marking.  Also many thanks to our non‑shooting members for their continued assistance to run the club throughout the season. Tickets ($40 each) are still available for the WSRA Annual Prizegiving Dinner, being held at the range on Saturday 7 November at 6.30pm (doors open at 6pm).  To order tickets, please advise Inge Little and make payment direct into the WSRA bank account. Parents, partners, siblings and friends are all welcome. Our club prizegiving has been set for 14 November.  More information to come. That’s it for club shooting this season.  The club will get under way again in early March.

      • The top shot position in D Grade was shared between Jaz Hamilton and Mitesh Mistry, both scoring 90.1 ahead of Wynter Tickle with 89.0.  Clive Brodie scored highest in C Grade with 95.2, followed by Inge Little with 94.1.  In B Grade Dianne Grain’s 98.4 was best, with Mark Riley 2nd highest with 96.2.  And in the higher grades, only an inner separated Meredith Ackrill (98.6) and Erin Little (98.5). New 20-shot PBs were recorded by Inge Little (195.7) and Jaz Hamilton (186.2).  Meredith Ackrill scored highest with 197.10, ahead of Erin Little with 196.7 followed by a flurry of 195s (David Grain, Inge Little and Mark Riley). The Final 10 of the closed champs competition was contested on Monday.  Meredith Ackrill scored 198.11 to move up three places, finishing in 2nd position behind Neil Kinsey of Wellington Central who set a new record total of 795.60. The Wellington v Hutt Valley C Grade match was held on Friday evening.  With Hutt Valley only able to field a seven-person team, the best seven Wellington scores therefore formed the Wellington result, and gave Wellington a win by 24 points.  The highest Wellngton score was shot by Inge Little, closely followed by Jaz Hamilton.  Jack Day recorded a new PB in this match of 97.3. Our winning interclub teams competed against Hutt Valley on Friday.  Upper Hutt were the Hutt Valley B Grade winners but as they were unable to form a team, Petone Central competed instead.  The Brooklyn B Grade team won the match by 3 points, with Mark Riley taking top honours with 194.12.  Upper Hutt defaulted to our C Grade team – top shot in the match was Inge Little with 189.7.  In the Open Grade interclub match, Wainuiomata were successful against Wellington Central. Results from the Titipounamu Match are now available.  Wellington finished in 6th position (out of 12 teams). Auckland were the 2020 winners, ahead of Taranaki and Hutt Valley.  Interestingly Taranaki and Hutt Valley’s total scores were identical, with Manawatu only four inners lower, followed by Waikato a point behind, so a very tight competition with only a point separating four Associations for 2nd place. Tickets ($40 each) are now available for the WSRA Annual Prizegiving Dinner, being held at the range on Saturday 7 November at 6.30pm (doors open at 6pm).  To order tickets, please advise Inge Little and make payment direct into the WSRA bank account including your name under reference, and “Dinner” under Code.  Parents, partners, siblings and friends are all welcome. The Teams of Five match for B Grade and below was held on Thursday.  Congratulations to Mark Baines on recording an excellent score of 397.22.  The team total was higher than in four of the past five years.  Full results will be available in early October. In the final round of the local Hutt Valley and Wellington secondary schools match, top shots for Queen Margaret College and Samuel Marsden were Megan Brodie and Cassie Truscott respectively.  Congratulations to both on their selection to the Wellington secondary schools team to compete against Manawatu next Sunday. We’re certainly in a busy part of the season, even busier than usual with the calendar having been condensed due to lockdown.  However the number of matches will ease up considerably in September.  Thanks to everyone for their availability for various teams, and to those who are advising their unavailability prior to the opt-out deadline.  Please continue to do this for the remaining matches. Brooklyn are hosting Round 4 of the interclub competition on Sunday.  Please compact your equipment as much as possible to allow space for visiting teams (12 shooters).  There will be club squads between the interclub squads, and club members are also welcome to shoot on interclub squads if they wish. • Congratulations to Graham and Wynter Tickle on setting new PBs again this week of 89.3 and 90.0 respectively. There were some fantastic scores shot last night, particularly D Graders Jaz Hamilton 98.5 and Jack Day 95.3.  Clive Brodie scored best in C Grade with 96.4, and Stephen Thessman’s 99.5 led B Grade.  In the higher grades, David Grain top-scored with 98.6.  And only two inners separated the top three in the 20‑shot competition (Becky Baines, Meredith Ackrill and Stephen Thessman). The Interassociation A Grade and C Grade matches were held on Monday.  Erin Little top-scored for the A Grade team with 195.7 and Clive Brodie shot best in the C Grade team with 190.6.  Both teams achieved similar results to last year.  And the Women’s interassociation match was held last night.  Unfortunately this team score was lower than previous years; however top shot was Becky Baines closely followed by Meredith Ackrill and the emergency, Sascha Thomson from Melrose club.  Full results will be published in October. Round 2 results of the Triple S (secondary schools) competition are now available.  At the half-way point, in C Grade Cassie Truscott is 2nd and Megan Brodie 4th.  The deadline for Round 3 targets is Sunday 23 August. Brooklyn have byes in all grades in the next interclub round being held on Wednesday 19 August. The Wright Cup and Osmond Shield matches will be shot on Saturday 29 August, with the first squad commencing at 7.30pm.  This is probably the most interesting and hotly contested club competition on the calendar.  The Wright Cup match comprises teams of six shooters (all C and D Graders) with the best five scores counting, and the Osmond Shield match comprises teams of eight shooters (only four of whom can be A Grade or Master Grade) with all scores counting.  Please let me know by Thursday 20 August if you are NOT available for this match – teams will be selected on Friday 21 August. • We are certainly in the busy part of the season, with many representative, college and interclub matches taking place.  Please keep checking your emails for selected team information. Congratulations to the following shooters on recording new PBs this week: Mitesh Mistry 91.1, Wynter Tickle 84.0 and Graham Tickle 80.1. Best on the rest was Jason Niedermeyer with a pair of 92.1s.  Jack Day’s 95.3 was the top score in D Grade, ahead of Jaz Hamilton with 94.4, while Josh Whitehead, Mitesh Mistry and Daniel Johnson all recorded 91s – it’s great to see so many achieving scores higher than their grades.  The same applies to C Grade where some phenomenal scores were recorded – Megan Brodie 98.5 and 98.3, Inge Little 98.2 and Cassie Truscott 97.5.  Stephen Thessman shot best in B Grade with 98.4 ahead of Mark Baines with 97.6.  In A Grade David Grain’s 98.4 was highest, and Becky Baines’ 100.7 in Master Grade was the best score shot at the club this week.  Meredith Ackrill and Becky Baines both scored 198.8 in the 20-shot competition, followed by Erin Little with 195.14. In the Titipounamu match held on Tuesday, the team scored their highest result for many years.  Top Brooklyn shooter was Erin Little with 295.16.  Full results will be available in October. Round 1 of the secondary schools match was held at the Keene Range yesterday.  Both Wellington College and Marsden were unable to field four-person teams in this round, but shooters were still able to compete as individuals.  Cassie Truscott was top Brooklyn shooter with 94.3 closely followed by Megan Brodie 94.1.  Round 2 will be shot at the Royal Tiger Range in Newtown at 2pm on Sunday 23 August. An extremely rare draw in the C Grade interclub competition gave both teams 2 points.  Additionally bonus points earned by Megan Brodie 98.5 and Inge Little 98.2 scored Brooklyn an extra 4 points, while Melrose also achieved 2 bonus points taking Melrose’s points to 4.  Another tight match in B Grade, with Brooklyn taking the win by 2 points.  Top shot was Stephen Thessman 98.4.  Our Open Grade team scored a very good win against Melrose, and are now equal with Wellington Central on the points table.  Meredith Ackrill and Becky Baines shared top honours with 198.8.  All Brooklyn teams have byes in Round 3 on Wednesday 19 August. Results from Round 2 of the Triple S Champs will be available later this week. The Wright Cup and Osmond Shield matches are being held on Saturday 29 August, with the first squad commencing at 7.30pm. • Welcome to new members Graham and Wynter Tickle who transitioned to slings yesterday. Congratulations to Steven Jia and Mitesh Mistry on their new PBs (91.2 and 90.0 respectively). Results from Rounds 1 and 2 of the closed champs competition are now available.  Early days yet with four rounds to go, but current graded leaders are: Stephen Thessman – 1st B Grade Megan Brodie – 1st C Grade and 1st Junior competition Jaz Hamilton – 1st D Grade Becky Baines – 1st Women's competition Results for Round 1 of the Triple S Champs have been published.  Congratulations to Cassie Truscott who is leading C Grade with 97.3, while Megan Brodie is in 6th position with 94.2. The Triangular B Grade, Junior and Women’s matches were combined with the Wellington v Hutt Valley Open Grade match this year, with many positive comments regarding the new match format.  Eight Brooklyn members were involved in at least one of these matches, with Cassie Truscott being selected for all four teams – well done!  The Open Grade competition was extremely tight with Hutt Valley taking the win by a mere point (out of 3500) – interestingly last year Wellington won by a point so over a two-year period the difference between the two associations came down to just 2 inners, in favour of Hutt Valley.  It doesn’t get much closer than that.  The B Grade match was also very close, with Hutt Valley taking the win by 2 points.  Wellington achieved a 5‑point win in the women’s match, while our juniors suffered defeat by 10 points.  Top shot in the B Grade match was Stephen Thessman 194.7, and in the Women’s match Erin Little 198.15. Brooklyn is hosting Round 2 of the interclub competition on Sunday.  Please compact your equipment as much as possible to allow space for visiting teams (12 shooters).  There will be club squads between the interclub squads, and club members are also welcome to shoot on interclub squads if they wish. Upcoming events: Tuesday 4 August: Titipounamu Match, 8.00pm + 8.45pm, 1x10 + 1x20.  Team: Mark Baines, David Grain, Erin Little, Stephen Thessman. Sunday 9 August: Round 2 interclub, 7.45pm C Grade v Melrose, 8.15pm B Grade v Wn Central, 8.45pm Open Grade v Melrose.  Teams named Thursday 6 August. Sunday 9 August: Round 2 Triple SSS deadline. • An extremely busy day yesterday, with many new shooters as well as hosting the interassociation representative matches.  Thanks to everyone who helped with the necessary tasks to ensure the evening ran as smoothly as possible. It was great to see all our “off the rest” shooters scoring in the 80s on at least one card.  Top shot was Jason Niedermeyer 88.3 very closely followed by Wynter Tickle 88.1, with dad Graham Tickle not far behind on 85.1.  Finn Ashby recorded the best D Grade score of 95.0 this week, ahead of Jack Day and Jaz Hamilton both with 92.2.  In C Grade Clive Brodie scored an absolutely phenomenal 99.5 (a new PB and highest score shot overall yesterday) followed by Megan Brodie and Hamish Guthrey also scoring well, both with 96.3.  A very close competition in B Grade, with only a point separating the top five – Mark Baines took top honours with 98.4 ahead of Mark Riley and Stephen Thessman both with 97.4.  David Grain’s 98.4 was the best score in the higher grades.  In the 20-shot competition Mark Baines was top shot with 196.8. • Congratulations to Ellie Mazey on setting a new personal best (PB) score of 87.1 yesterday. With the AGM being held mid-session, no 20-shot scores were recorded.  96 was the score to beat in many grades: top honours in the higher grades goes to David Grain with 96.3, while Dianne Grain’s 96.2 was a point ahead of Mark Riley and Stephen Thessman in B Grade.  A flurry of 96s were shot in C Grade (very impressive!) with the highest score recorded by Cassie Truscott 96.5, followed by Inge Little 96.4 and Megan Brodie 96.4.  Top shot in D Grade was Josh Whitehead with 94.2 followed by Finn Ashby 92.2, Jaz Hamilton 90.2 and Daniel Johnson 90.1. Fees and membership forms will be sent through to TSNZ this week, enabling all members to compete in various competitions.  The first open champs on the calendar is being held on Friday and Saturday at Martinborough. Thanks to everyone for their prompt responses for closed champs entries.  Almost all our current shooting members have opted in which is fantastic.  We hope to have targets available in the next couple of weeks, with the first deadline of two targets to be shot by Sunday 26 July. Just a reminder to record all scores onto the scoresheet in the marking room and indicate P or C (practice or competition).  If someone has shot groups, please write “groups” so that we know a score isn’t missing.  All competition scores must now be recorded on the your grading spreadsheet. Upcoming events: Tuesday 16 June, deadline for membership fees and closed champs entries. Friday 19 / Saturday 20 June, Wairarapa Open Champs, Martinborough. • Welcome back, everyone!  It was great to see so many at the club yesterday – it seems such a long time since we last shot.  Welcome also to our new members this season. Thanks to all those who have paid their subs so promptly.  There’s just a few more to come in and then we can get the paperwork and fees off to TSNZ. Best on the rest this week was Tiffany Kenyon with 84, followed by Mitesh Mistry with 80.  Top honours in D Grade go to Josh Whitehead with 88.2 very closely followed by Finn Ashby on 88.0.  Inge Little has had a great start to the season scoring 96.4 in C Grade, ahead of Cassie Truscott with 93.1.  Only a point separated the top two B Graders (Mark Riley 97.4 and Stephen Thessman 96.4).  In A Grade Erin Little edged ahead of David Grain (97.5 and 96.5 respectively), and top placing in Master Grade goes to Evan Little with 98.4 followed by Meredith Ackrill with 96.4.  Meredith scored highest on 20-shot cards with 195.10. The club competition will commence next Sunday, and will comprise 4 series of 4 weeks with a one-week gap between each series, and the BCD 20-shot competition will be the best 10 out of 16 cards.  Please remember to stamp your target “competition” or “practice”, and to record your competition scores onto your grading spreadsheet.  It is much easier to keep your spreadsheet up to date each week than to try to find scores at the end of the season. BSRC will hold its AGM next Sunday at 7.30pm with shooting before and after the AGM.  We will get the first squad underway at 6.15pm rather than the usual 6.30pm. The first open champs on the revised calendar is the Wairarapa Champs at Martinborough on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 June, followed by the Wanganui Open Champs which will be a postal event held at home ranges in the week of 21 to 27 June.
