There’s been a lot about this house in the news recently – both the paper kind of news, and the TV kind of news. May as well get my news from proper news sources while they exist, seeing as it sounds like soon nothing is going to exist in the news world. What will we do when 3News and OneNews are ditched, and Stuff has gone bust again? Its hard enough to even buy a paper these days, as increasingly nowhere sells them. What do we do in the future – just make up our own news as we go? Seems to be working fine for some people!
Anyway, THIS is the house in question:
Thorndon’s quite the place to be you know.
But there is an eyesore that is troubling the residents, above and beyond such other eyesores such as the American Embassy, the abortion of a supermarket carpark, the ugly lumpy tower of the Police Association, the row of non-descript office towers etc: yes, its the Thorndon Tavern.
Tauranga-based artist Cordula Taiwo is set to open her exhibition, "Of a Wild God," at Thistle Hall, intentionally overlapping with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ Wellington concerts (Feb 5 & 6). This sophisticated body of work is a deeply personal creative response to Nick Cave’s music, his public correspondence (The Red Hand Files), and his published conversations (Faith, Hope and Carnage).
A feijoa. A Witch. A secret. And two children on a mission at midnight in search of magic. With a bloodthirsty hound on their heels the mysteries of the garden begin to unravel before their eyes.
