Convent Old Girls Netball Club the oldest club still in existence in the Hutt Valley recently celebrated its 75th Jubilee at the Angus Inn in Lower Hutt with more than 100 past and present players and friends.
The first Newtown People's Market and Boot Sale was such a success last year that organisers have decided to run it each month on the last Saturday, 11am to 3pm at St Anne's Church Hall, Emmett Street, Newtown.
There was audience enthusiasm as never before in Johnsonville last month when the religious sisters put on a concert for local World Youth Day pilgrims.
Even before the final rehearsal enthusiastic fans were queuing at Ss Peter and Paul church for the March 14 concert.
The sun shone, the people rolled in and there was something for everyone at the Kapiti WYD garage sale. The sausages were superb, the cakes simply delicious, the deals were spectacular and the pilgrims were very happy to have their fundraising efforts boosted by $2500.
The future of Karori, Wadestown and the Cathedral parishes from 1 July.
Parishioners in the Wellington West Pastoral Area will be informed of decisions about the future of the area’s three parishes with the departure from Karori of Fr Tom O’Brien on 1 July.

St Josephs Parish, Upper Hutt, celebrated the first two years of its Catholics Returning Home programme last month in which parishioners have accompanied 25 Catholics on their return to the Church.
The CRH team put on afternoon tea on 20 May in the foyer of the church and invited all who had been involved with the programme in the Northern Hutt Valley Pastoral Area to meet those on the journey back to their faith roots.
