Three years of chaos: Wellington’s public transport plan, and how to fix it
- Wellington Scoop
- Since the Transport Agency’s Basin Reserve flyover plan was cancelled, there’ve been claims that it has thrown Greater Wellington’s Public Transport Plan into chaos. In fact the plan has been in chaos much longer: at least three years. The 2014 plan has been approved but is in reality a train-wreck. Dramatic improvements in public transport usually need institutional change, which is now clearly essential in Wellington.

Poverty inequality in Aotearoa condemned
- Welcom
- News April 2014 Cecily McNeill Would the two-and-a-half million visitors to New Zealand each year give such glowing accounts of the country on their return home if they knew that a third of the 600,000 people living in poverty were children? Archbishop John Dew put this question to a large crowd gathered in Parliament grounds to share a picnic tea with politicians on 19 March.

- September 2014 Pastoral Mike Noonan A recurrent question I have heard in parishes and pastoral areas in the Archdiocese since arriving here a little over a year ago is ‘Where are our Youth?’ It is often asked in a challenging tone, appearing to imply the barque of St Peter must be sinking in Wellington harbour because all we can see in our gatherings are grey or white-haired people.
