• • A Very Fine Affair

    • Today I had the pleasure of triumphantly depositing $1700 in the Oxfam Coffee Break bank account! This money was raised at the formal dinner, A Fine Affair, by the amazing group of timebankers, volunteers, sponsors and guests, who worked, donated and consumed delicious fairtrade food and drink. The day started bright and early for our star chef, Tania Sawicki Mead, along with a dedicated team of kitchen hands including Nolan Hodgeson, Karly Christ, Kate Wilson and Renee Rushton. A crisp selection of fresh food donated by Commonsense Organics and The Organic Connection was unpacked and the preparation began. The Newtown Community Centre Theatre was transformed into a beautiful, fine-dining restaurant setting lit with fairy lights and candles and decorated with fair-trade coffee sacks.

    • Students with the All Good Gorilla at the Fairtrade Breakfast Attendees at the Wellington Fairtrade Breakfast The All Good Bananas team making delicious banana smoothies Attendees at the Wellington Fairtrade Breakfast Stephanie Fry from Celcius Coffee, our extremely entertaining MC Mayor Celia Wade-Brown opens Wellington’s Fairtrade Breakfast Deputy Labour Leader Grant Robertson takes to the stage Thanks to all of you who supported and attended A Fairtrade Breakfast in the City, Friday 18th May, 7-9am at the St James Theatre. A great time was had by all, chowing down on All Good Banana smoothies, drinking unlimited KTea and Celcius Coffee. Guests received fantastic Fairtrade giveaways and goodies from Commonsense Organics, Kowtow Clothing, Ideal Cups, Trade Aid and Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate. Entertainment and information was provided by our MC Stephanie Fry, Mayor Celia Wade-Brown, MP Grant Robertson, Steve Knapp (CEO of Fairtrade Australia & New Zealand), and a visiting All Good Gorilla. Hula Hope‘s beautiful songs finished off what was a great way to kick-start your day. It was a perfect way to celebrate Wellington’s Fair Trade City status, Fair Trade Fortnight, and show the huge support of Wellington businesses for Fairtrade.  Cheers to Martin Wilson at Capital Productions for our sound needs, our photographer Corinna Howland and Positively Wellington Venues. Many thanks to our fabulous volunteers Ayumi, Corinna, Josephine, Daniela and Priya.
