The Quartz Hill station is now closed for major amateur radio activity while Meridian Energy Ltd is building a wind farm for electricity generation. Our antenna farm has been dismantled to make way for the civil works. Consequently the provision to make station bookings has also been suspended.
The Quartz Hill site is now closed for major amateur radio activity while a wind generation farm is under construction there. The activities log and the provision to make bookings have therefore been suspended.
We are hopeful that we will be able to return to the site and re-establish the station once the wind farm is in operation.
There will be an open day at Quartz Hill for supporters, all radio amateurs, SWLs, their families and friends, on Sunday 4 February 2007 - from 11:00 am onwards. You will be able to view the Quartz Hill facilities. This may be your last chance to see this fabulous facility in its current form as it is likely that we will have to dismantle antenna infrastructure over the coming year (to make way for the wind farm project).
