Making up for a million dollar loss
- Wellington Scoop
- The Wellington City Council, after ten years, has decided to resume earning an income from the two billboards on top of the Embassy Theatre. When the city council took over ownership of the 1920s building from the Embassy Theatre Trust more than ten years ago, advertising deals were in place which earned $100,000 a year from the high-profile signage. But the council decided it didn’t want advertising. Except for itself. The commercial deals ended. As did the income.

First XI Cricket beats St Bede's in Cliffhanger
- St Patricks College, Silverstream
- Tuesday 16 March 2010: In a cliffhanger ending, the First XI Cricket team has beaten St Bede's of Christchurch to bring home the Cup. Stream had to win outright to regain the trophy while St Bede's only had to bat out the day for a draw. Declaring early on Day Three after a knock of 101 by Ben Rammell, captain Brandon Tai set St Bede's a target of 280 to win: and a target for his own team of getting all ten wickets! At 5.15 pm this afternoon, the last wicket fell and Stream had won. A fantastic performance by the whole team. The Tennis team played earlier in the day against a strong St Bede's team, eventually losing the series.

Friends of Maara Roa
- Maara Roa is a forest restoration project at Cannons Creek Valley near Porirua. Its purpose is to restore the Bush back to what it was before the people who ruined it came. The project started in 2000, after some gorse fires destroyed yet more sections of native bush. A small group of people met to see if something could be done to stop it. The Friends of Maara Roa grew from that.

The life and times of James Walter Chapman-Taylor
- ‘The life and times of James Walter Chapman-Taylor’ enables us to enter into the life and times of a man, a family, a society, and ways of thinking and acting different to, yet not so distant from, our own. We enter the world of an architect, who is also an artist; builder, craftsman; a theosophist, an astrologer, a photographer, a furniture maker.
