ANZAC DAY | Lest we forget | Wartime History
- Oriental Rongotai Football Club
- The club's activities are severely restricted because of many members being called up for active service. The Rugby Union decides no unmarried man eligible for military service is allowed to take part in any rugby. A Senior team and two or three lower grade teams are fielded in this period and the club's Wednesday teamshares the Championship honours in 1914. Two hundred and eighty-nine Ories serve in the armed forces and of them 40 die on the battlefield and seventy are wounded. Thiry-five gain commission in the field.

Weekly Club Roundup - Saturday 21st April 2012
- Oriental Rongotai Football Club
- 8 Days a week - There are probably a few names for playing 3 games in 8 days and Coach Killer is probably one. On Saturday Ories had the Premiers at Maoribank, Senior 1sts at Ngati Toa, Senior 2nds at Delaney and Colts at Polo, all playing at the same time so to say resources were stretched is an understatement. To come away with 3 wins out of 4 is a great result and a credit to the coaches and players. On Wednesday the Prems, S1st and S2nd play again then on Saturday once more – certainly not the greatest decision by the WRFU.
