Weekly Club Roundup - Saturday 8th August 2015
- Oriental Rongotai Football Club
- Wow – too big too strong too fast two wins! Our Colts defeated Wainui 49-5 at Mary Crowther to book a finals spot in the early game while in the main game on No.1 our Premier Reserves might be in trouble after an unauthorised demolition of Johnsonville and will host Wainui in the HD Morgan Cup final on No.1 on Saturday. Over at ASB the Netball girls had a two wins and a loss and with one round remaining some silverware looks a distinct possibility! Our juniors had some great results probably none better than our U8 Magpies who defeated West’s 55-35 despite playing the whole game with one less player. The U6s’ beat Wests’ 11-6, U9s’ beat Poneke 80-10 but the U10s’ went down in a tight one 35-25 to Wests’.

Weekly Club Roundup - Saturday 25th July 2015

- Disappointed is probably an understatement after Saturday’s 2 point loss in the Jubilee Cup semifinal. It is hard to understand how a referee who does Super 15 has to do the touch while a younger one does one of the top games of the season. It is interesting that the Club Rugby website also referred to the standard of officiating. For those that returned to the clubrooms the look of disappointment on the players, coaches and management faces was chilling, not that they lost but how they lost. It has been a good season for a team who are constantly without a considerable number of players but produce great rugby every week – well-done guys.

- Five in a row! Our Premiers five year unbeaten run over Poneke came within a couple of minutes of going south on Saturday but a man down they played with pace and composure to consolidate their top four placing and with games against the bottom three teams to come in the next four weeks a Jubilee Cup berth almost seems assured.

Weekly Club Roundup - 1st September 2014 2014
- Oriental Rongotai Football Club
- What a day for our Junior teams on Saturday with two teams heading into the last round unbeaten. We have been following our top Junior side all season but our magnificent U8s’ well coached by Dave “Postie” Douglas were sitting on a perfect record and kept it that way in brilliant conditions at Polo and then following that a comprehensive win for our U13s’ against a North’s’ side that had probably tested our U13s’ more than any other team in there earlier clash at Elsdon Park in terrible conditions. Most of these U13 players are off to college next year with a good many going to Rongotai – under Dave Meaclem, Justin Grey and the rest of the Rugby team at RC these players will enjoy a new environment thanks to the partnership with our friends at Poneke – watch this space!

Weekly Clubroundup - 12th April
- Oriental Rongotai Football Club
- Wins, draws and losses! The results didn’t all go our way on Saturday but good wins by our Women’s and Premiers saw a happy crowd at Saturday’s aftermatch celebrations. A few changes in our team entries this year. Due to a lack of teams entering the there will be no Senior 3rd this year with only four clubs applying. The grade is no more and those teams that entered will now play in Reserve One. Despite a lot of effort the famous Ories J8s are no more after 34 seasons as father time has crept up on a number of the stalwarts. The good news is that those left will either play for The Pressies or in the new Reserve One team which is mainly the players from last season’s S3rds and a few recruits.

Weekly Club Roundup - Saturday 23rd June 2012
- Oriental Rongotai Football Club
- 1, 2, 3! Good wins for our Premiers, Senior 1st and Senior 2nds on Saturday saw Upper Hutt and Avalon head home wondering what hit them! Avalon accused our S2nds of fielding too many players – we are struggling for numbers so too many players are impossible! Our Women’s team returned from Stokes Valley with a narrow loss while both our Colts and Reserve team came second against Avalon and Upper Hutt respectively. Netball was 2-1 with Ories Gold continuing on their winning ways. They have been promoted up a grade and with Epi Lima in devastating form won by over 30 goals!

Weekly Club Roundup - Saturday 12th May 2012

- A good result for our Premiers over the scarfies, a mixture of results in other grades. We have included the Dom Post report for an unbiased view of the game. Where it reads “neither team could string any decent series of play” read a lopsided penalty count where one team was allowed to infringe and one wasn’t. The penalty count was 6-22 against while in most other games this season the penalty count has been 50/50.
