Premier v Karori - 30/05/09 - L 3-1
- Island Bay United AFC
- Our Saturday trip away to Karori proved just why Wellington needs Artificial Grounds and fast. Unfortunately, this Karori Park is Wellington's latest pitch, and what a waste of money it's proving to be. I'm sure it's great during Summer, when Mums and Dads can happily stroll their Prams across the park to the cafe and playground, but it's not much chop when you need a snorkel to kick off and it's

Fat Freddys release new album

- It’s been four years since Based On A True Story, but Fat Freddys Drop have FINALLY released their follow-up full-length album, Dr Boondigga & the Big BW. The boys have been meticulously crafting Dr Boondigga for over two years, slyly injecting new songs into live shows, to see what does and doesn't work. Restoring our faith in humanity one step at a time
- The Wellingtonista
- This morning-ish, I was juggling headphones, iPod, scarf, hat, satchel and extra bag on the bus, as well as trying to text, and unbeknownst to me, I managed to drop my phone on the bus. When I got into work, I had a message on my answerphone from my mum, saying that she'd got a call from someone who had my cellphone, and that I should call my number to arrange a pick-up. Right

Box up your Books for the Book Fair
- Downtown Community Ministry
- Downtown Community Ministry needs your books for Wellington’s big annual Book Fair. The Book Fair is held in September at the TSB Arena has a staggering number of books, DVDs, Vinyl records and CDs that are donated each year and then sold to people to reuse and enjoy. Coordinator David Cross says, “It’s a fantastic way of redistributing unused items to people who want them and it raises incredible funding for DCM’s work in the city”. But first Downtown Community Ministry needs to collect the thousands of books and other items needed for the fair. Wheelibins will be placed at churches and community centres throughout the city for people to drop off their books. For a list of these locations please see www.dcm.org.nz

Comedy Divas – 18 May, Embassy Theatre
- Texture
- I have never been to the Comedy Divas evening, it is something that I have always intended to check-out, but have inevitably missed it every year. I think it’s the allure of a diverse range of comediennes and the promise of a goodie-bag for a reasonable buck, that gets me every time. Clearly a total win for a tight-arse that thinks stand-up comedy can be a bit of a gamble…

- Brooklyn-based noisemakers Matt and Kim are a charming, dorky, chaotic, euphoric two piece with Kim on drums and Matt on keys. More like an out of control house parties than concerts, their shows are an exhilarating, rambunctious affair,
