Where’s the new tunnel going?

- There’s been a bit of speculation over at Eye of the Fish about the location of the second Mt Victoria tunnel that the NZ Transport Agency – against all logic and economic rationality – wants to drive through our neighbourhood.

- After a couple of posts looking at the proposed concretisation of the car’s dominance over nature, with a 6 lane highway racing through Haitaitai and an overpass through / over / around the Basin Reserve, all courtesy of the NZTA, perhaps it is time to look at somebody else’s vision for the streets of Wellington. Another Motorway Battle Looms

- Another motorway battle is looming in the Capital.And it’s close to the Greens’ heart. A plan to ram a motorway through Hataitai may affect among others, Greens co-leader Russel Norman as he lives in Hataitai. And it could be another big test for the Wellington’s Greens’ Mayor. The NZTA plans to duplicate the Mt Victoria Tunnel and put a four lane motorway through Hataitai which Norman says would be bad for everyone.
