    • A good field of rogainers headed into the mist-shrouded Akatarawa Forest on Sunday, starting in the Maungakotukutuku Valley. Gordon Balfour had set 47 control points right up to the 700-m Maunganui, second-highest point in the Aka's and as far out as the Rock Garden/Devils Staircase.
