Patrol
- Hutt Chick
- wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I arrived at the police station. The others were waiting. I got into the waiting patrol car, and buckled up. I was going out on community patrol in Naenae. Community patrols work alongside police to build safer communities, providing an extra set of eyes and ears. We drove a random route but to some set areas, through schools, up alleyways behind businesses, making sure the streets were safe and providing a visual deterrent for tagging and other crime.

Wellington is facing rising sea levels
- Bryan Pepperell - Back To The Future
- At the Wellington City Council Strategy and Policy Committee briefing of December 1 we were shown a computer model of the areas of Wellington that would be flooded by sea level rise as a consequence of global warming. One of the areas that may be impacted is the site of the Indoor Sports Centre. There is no doubt there will be consequences that will be beyond our control even if Wellington were to reduce green house gas emissions.

PUT THE INDOOR SPORTS CENTRE ON HOLD - Cr Pepperell
- Bryan Pepperell - Back To The Future
- I have consistently warned that we face serious economic times over the last six years. Furthermore I’m of the belief that we are about to take a turn for the worse and that we must face affordability issues in a more urgent way.

Update on save the point / the true cost to the ratepayers
- Bryan Pepperell - Back To The Future
- I'm picking this has cost the ratepayers over 1.5 million dollars so far. This does not include the $7 million non-recourse loan towards building MEC. Opponents have had to meet legal and experts' costs of over $200,000 plus time of the core of volunteers and expert witnesses who gave their time, etc gratis.

Save the point has won in the environment court
- Bryan Pepperell - Back To The Future
- In 2000 I began one of my longest political battles . Yesterday it finished in the Environment Court with a ruling that the South Coast is not an appropriate place for an Aquarium. In that time I was supported only by Cr David Zwartz. In 2004 I was joined by Cr Jack Ruben in my opposition. This proposal divided the community. While the political battle was raging and we were overwhelmed by a developer friendly Council, Save Te Rae Kai Hau Point was formed. It was this group that in the end won the day.

Te Rae Kai Hau Point - Keep It Natural!
- Bryan Pepperell - Back To The Future
- This is my seventh year in the battle to Save Te Rae Kai Hau Point. As seven is a special number I see this as a positive year to do things. It has been seven years where many people have played a part in opposing the shameful proposed Marine Education Centre ( Fish Zoo and Cafe) on this wonderful piece of natural heritage.

Manufacturing Consent in The Capital / Media Collusion in Wellington?
- Bryan Pepperell - Back To The Future
- This week in the Capital's politics the temperature rose steeply over the District Plan and infill housing. That was driven by the City's news maker the Dompost with a series of reports designed to give a favourable impression of a Council that has been papering over the cracks of a permissive District Plan.

Save Te Rae Kai Hau Point 2007
- Bryan Pepperell - Back To The Future
- The $22 m cost of this project(the fish zoo) continues to escalate due to its proposed location at Te Rae Kai Hau Point and the need to protect the building from the relentless force of the sea. Not only will ratepayers be press-ganged into paying the inevitable shortfalls and ongoing costs, we will lose our precious natural heritage to so called environmentalists.
