    • A route on the seaward side of the rail line is the best way for cyclists and walkers to get between Petone and Wellington, say cyclists. Cycle Aware Wellington spokesperson Alastair Smith says, "We welcome initiatives from Transit NZ and local authorities to address the immediate problems but a long-term solution is needed."
