- Now that we have a definitive list of mayoral candidates, we thought it was time we send them some of the questions we'd crowdsourced over Twitter ages ago.

Patrol
- Hutt Chick
- wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I arrived at the police station. The others were waiting. I got into the waiting patrol car, and buckled up. I was going out on community patrol in Naenae. Community patrols work alongside police to build safer communities, providing an extra set of eyes and ears. We drove a random route but to some set areas, through schools, up alleyways behind businesses, making sure the streets were safe and providing a visual deterrent for tagging and other crime.

Fields of dreams
- Mark Greening
- But as a coach of a Division 7 football team in Brooklyn, its been a frustrating year with the weather. All to often grounds are closed or games are called off. This is understandable, as its better not to cut the grounds up, and miss out on training or playing on those very same grounds for another 2 weeks or more.

Beating Rate Rises - If you cab afford it.
- Sharon Blaikie
- The WCC has sent out a notice reminding ratepayers of the GST increase in October and suggesting a way of avoiding that increase at least for this year by paying installments 2, 3 and 4 right away. A good idea - if you have the ready.

Tin-foil hat candidate for the Southern Ward
- WCC Watch
- Seann Paurini has announced he is running for the Southern Ward. He is against “the proliferation of surveillance technologies” and the parking enforcement camera car. Oh well, at least he’s got a niche.

“I think I’m in the running” says Bryan Pepperell
- Wellington Scoop
- Wellington is at a crossroads, with important decisions looming about the future of the city, says Wellington city councillor and mayoral candidate Bryan Pepperell. He lists Wellington’s pressing problems as council debt, energy and transport provision, and protecting the city’s natural and built heritage. We visited Councillor Pepperell at his home and asked him about his policies, his aspirations and his opinion of his fellow mayoral candidates.

Its about being smarter
- Mark Greening
- Smart cities attract smart people. And information technology (IT) is the power engine of smarter cities. From an economic point of view, cities have to rely on a smarter, more skilled workforce for competitive differentiation. Wellington cannot afford to have all its eggs in the “home of government” basket.

Andy Foster ‘probably’ not running for mayor: ‘race between Kerry and Celia’
- Wellington Scoop
- Councillor Andy Foster has all but ruled out running for mayor in the upcoming local body elections. But as a long-term Wellington city councillor, he said he would consider running for mayor in the future and it was a job he could do well. And he did have a clear opinion on how this year’s candidates were shaping up: “I think it’s going to be a race between Kerry and Celia and we’ll see how it goes.
