Pay for play is here

t’s pay for play time. Parents, bring your cheque books. John Morrison and colleagues delay a positive vote on artificial pitches by three months and end up with one pitch, part funded by the private sector, meaning low income families may not be able to afford for their kids to play with the rich kids. At least it’s a result:

Muddy Mess in Wellington Soccer

Sam Buckle from the action group Yellow Fever wrote to me recently as follows:

I am one of the guys who organises Yellow Fever, which as you probably know is the supporters’ group for the Wellington Phoenix. But it's also a hub for people involved in football in and around Wellington – people who are frustrated about the state of our sports fields.

But as a coach of a Division 7 football team in Brooklyn, its been a frustrating year with the weather. All to often grounds are closed or games are called off. This is understandable, as its better not to cut the grounds up, and miss out on training or playing on those very same grounds for another 2 weeks or more.
