Campers motor on in

- 23-26 October 2009: Stream was over-run during Labour Weekend as two hundred motor homes from the lower North Island attended a rally. Organised by the local branch of the New Zealand Motor Caravan Association (www.nzmca.org.nz) the campers spread out across the Number 2 Rugby field, enjoying the facilties that Stream, and the local community, has to offer.

Ope Donates NZ Secondary School's Jersey
- St Patricks College, Silverstream
- 20 October 2009: At Tuesday's assembly, Ope Peleseuma presented his NZ School Boys' Rugby Team jersey to the school. After playing for the team this season in Australia against various sides, including a very tough game against the Australian School Boys' side, Ope presented the jersey to be framed and hung in the Sports Pavilion.

Recognising a Great Worker

- Downtown Community Ministry stalwart and passionate supporter Patricia Booth was recognised yesterday with a Pride of Workmanship award from the South Wellington Rotary. Pat is nearing 20 years of service at DCM as Treasurer. Her involvement with DCM began way back in 1976 as convenor of the then ICM Refugee Resettlement Committee.

Street Footy Team Shatters Stereotypes

- Wellington’s Street Footy team won the Fairplay award at a recently completed ‘Mini World Cup’ tournament in Lower Hutt. The multi-ethnic tournament, organised by Sportzone, provided helpful game experience in the 11 a side format.

Operation Christmas Child

- A reminder that shoe boxes need to be returned to The Salvation Army Johnsonville Office no later than Sunday 25th October. There is an Operation Christmas child table set up in the foyer where you can leave your filled shoe boxes. This will be set up every Sunday through to Sunday 25th October. Alternatively boxes can be dropped off during the week at the church office upstairs.

New Community Constable starts work

- From tsunami relief to peacemaking in conflict zones Wellington’s new Community Officer, Senior Constable James Patrick, holds great experience in understanding crisis. He comes into his new position, replacing Wellington Community Sergeant Matt Boyce, after several policing roles in disaster and conflict situations in Asia and the Pacific.
