Hutt City residents benefit from Rates Rebate Scheme

- Hutt City Council has accepted over 1,000 applications for rates relief as part of the Government’s Rates Rebates Scheme, Hutt City Mayor David Ogden announced today. The Scheme provides a subsidy of up to $500 to low income home owners and ratepayers on the cost of their rates. Residents have been eligible to apply for a discount on their rates since the Council sent out its first rates notice in early August.

Treated effluent discharge into Harbour while Pencarrow Pipeline under repair

- Hutt City Council this afternoon (31 July) began an emergency repair of a leak in the Pencarrow effluent pipeline. To effect these repairs, disinfected and fully treated effluent has been discharged into the Waiwhetu Stream through the overflow outlet near the Hutt River mouth. There have been short term discharges at various scour points along the Eastbourne coastline between Seaview and Pencarrow.
