Driver charged with assault on US cyclist

- On Tuesday the 12th of January two American tourists became embroiled in a road rage incident when cycling through Newtown in Wellington. Emergency Response Manager, Inspector Paris Razos says “Last night Police arrested the driver of the vehicle involved in the incident. A 39 year old man has been charged with common assault and will appear in Wellington District Court on Wednesday.”

Car hits power pole in Lower Hutt

- At 7.15pm tonight, emergency services were called to Naenae Road after a car hit a power pole near the corner of Waiwhetu Road. The force of the impact was so strong that the concrete power pole was sheared off at the base.
