      • Public Programme May – September 2014 what is a life? kim pieters RELOAD | Kirk Gallery Series 2014:  Shannon Te Ao/Hito Steyerl/Eddie Clemens 27 May – 21 September 2014   Opening performance Tuesday 27 May 6pm Experimental ensemble Eye (Peter Stapleton, Peter Porteous, Jon Chapman) launch the exhibition what is a life? kim pieters with an improvised performance featuring the live projection of Pieters’ moving-image footage.   Lunchtime talk and tour Wednesday 28 May 12pm Join artist Kim Pieters on a tour of her exhibition, what is a life? for rare insights into her practice.   Discussion Friday 4 July 5.30pm Join Martin Patrick and Sophie Jerram for a collective viewing of Hito Steyerl’s Is the Museum a Battlefield?, our second installation in the RELOAD Kirk Gallery Series, and discuss the responsibilities of art in an era of rampant neoliberalism.   Working the Gap Occasioned by Kim Pieters’ subtle interpolation of words into her visual practice, this day symposium and workshop series investigates the complex relationships between words and art and brings to light alternative models of writing in, on, and alongside art. Working the Gap is designed to encourage new writers and emerging critics to understand their craft and critically reflect on its multidimensional potential.   Day symposium Saturday 9 August 11 – 4pm Adam Art Gallery and venue tbc Art writers, poets, critics, and academics present short papers on the responsibilities and possibilities of writing in, on, and about art now.   Workshops 13 & 20 August 12pm Two lunchtime workshops coordinated by poet and PhD candidate, Therese Lloyd, use Kim Pieters’ exhibition as cue and backdrop for students and new and established writers to explore and extend their writing practice.   Discussion Friday 15 August 5.30pm Join artist Eddie Clemens and curator Rebecca Boswell to gain insights into Clemens’Collector’s Edition Glitch, the third and final installation in RELOAD | Kirk Gallery Series 2014.   Insight Wednesday 17 September 6pm Join experimental sound practitioner, Rachel Shearer for a free-ranging conversation about women working in the arena of experimental sound/music.
