      • 4 Jul 2011

      • TWO young Wellington rowers are doing whatever it takes to pay for their chance to compete at a world championship level. Tufi Sele (21) and Joe Wright (19) – who compete in coxed four and coxless quad – are in the New Zealand team competing at the World Under-23 Rowing Championships in Amsterdam next month. The boys and their families are holding a book fair next Saturday, where they will sell donated books and use the profits to fund the tour.

      • 20 Feb 2011

The future could also be uncertain for Wellington’s other big Whitcoulls stores, in the Readings complex in Courtenay Place, at the airport, and in Queensgate, as well as others throughout New Zealand.

    • Box up your Books for the Book Fair
      • 26 May 2009
      • Downtown Community Ministry
      • Downtown Community Ministry needs your books for Wellington’s big annual Book Fair. The Book Fair is held in September at the TSB Arena has a staggering number of books, DVDs, Vinyl records and CDs that are donated each year and then sold to people to reuse and enjoy. Coordinator David Cross says, “It’s a fantastic way of redistributing unused items to people who want them and it raises incredible funding for DCM’s work in the city”. But first Downtown Community Ministry needs to collect the thousands of books and other items needed for the fair. Wheelibins will be placed at churches and community centres throughout the city for people to drop off their books. For a list of these locations please see www.dcm.org.nz

      • Collections for Downtown Community Ministry's annual Book Fair Fundraiser are underway. I love the book fair, because you name a book and you'll most probably find it there. Plus you get to go shopping and know that all you money is going to a good cause - like addressing homelessness in Wellington. Scattered around town are wheelie bins for people to donate their unwanted books.
