- Actor and playwright Jacob Rajan wears his culture lightly. His parents were from Southern India, but Rajan was born in Malaysia. The family moved to Wellington when he was four. “India is a very big country and Indians aren’t homogenous,” Rajan says. “My parents came from a very small sub set in Kerala in Southern India. There wasn’t really an Indian community here for them when they came to New Zealand.”
