      • Our Enrichment elective programme began last Thursday. Students chose from a wide range of activities such as performing in our cultural group, film making, animated movies, drama, Future Problem Solving, Team Mechanics, Maori Art, The World of Sport, yarn craft and school reporters. The yarn craft group (above and left) began with learning the basics of knitting.

      • Tuesday 2 March 2010: It was a hard day for Stream at the McEvedy Shield today. With strong teams from all four schools it was always going to be tough. A few early highlights were: Fletcher Greaves winning the Under-14 100m and Aviata Silago throwing 44 metres to win the Open Discus.

      • All teachers who are members of the NZEI will be attending a union meeting at 1.30 on 24 March 2010 to discuss their collective agreement. Supervision at school will be provided for children who are unable to be collected at lunch-time. Parents will be asked to let us know at a later date if their child is to remain at school.

      • Thursday 25 February 2010: Stream Head Boy in 1967, Father Tony O'Connor, talked today to students about his life and work in Peru and, most recently, Venezuela over the last 30 years. With photos of the school he runs outside of Caracas, he spoke of the daily life of students in a shanty town.

      • What is Cool Town? Few people know. Some say it was once the coolest and most mysterious bar in Wellington, located behind a secret door on Cuba Street before it disappeared. One thing is for sure: whatever Cool Town was, it’s coming back. For Orientation Week only, Mount Street Bar will be transformed into Cool Town! From Monday 1 to Friday 5 of March the coolest bands in town will appear at Cool Town to perform for free! Gigs start at 5pm, so you can come straight after classes, which is pretty darn sweet.

      • Actually the rate increase is closer to 6.5 percent to the residents if you take into account the swimming pool improvements proposed as an option in the DAP (Draft Annual Plan.) The total rate increase including the commercial and residential sector is quoted as 2.8 percent but when the sectors are broken down the commercial is zero and the residential is 6 percent or 6.5 percent depending on the final fix in the DAP.
