back/words
- 21 Feb 2010
- Salient
- back/words is an exercise in verbatim theatre. Verbatim theatre being based entirely around attempts by actors to totally recreate the ‘performances’ of interview subjects. Repeating them word for word with the same inflection, reflection and physical performance.

A mobile exhibition of tiny proportions
- 18 Feb 2010
- Whitireia Community Polytechnic
- A mobile exhibition of tiny proportions is popping up around Wellington alongside the Fringe Festival. Alter+EGO is a visual arts exhibition that investigates artists egos as individuals and as performers – the relationship between our everyday identity and our ‘performance’ identity. While some artistic egos may be larger than life, the show’s curator Vaune Mason insisted that in this exhibition, all the works together, could be squeezed into the back of a truck.

NZ Fringe Fest gets 75 candles for its 20th birthday cake
- 23 Oct 2009
- Fringe Festival
- Colin 'Pinetree' Meads, Bob Saget and Wolverine are coming. So are pirates, Vikings and gypsies. The Giles family? Well, they're not only coming but also hosting a dinner. And Zeus – the god, not the old pro wrestler with the bung eye – will be hanging in a Wellington café. They're all coming to the New Zealand Fringe Festival's 20th Birthday – at least representations of them are, as part of the 75 acts confirmed this week after the deadline for registrations closed for the 2010 festival.

Fringe 2010: We're back and open for business
- 24 Sep 2009
- Fringe Festival
- It's fun living on the Fringe. To be sure, a little less fun when the dollars dry up and the credit crisis gives us the crunch, but when life gives you lemons what do you do? Make lemonade, of course. Making Fringe-flavoured lemonade is just one of the novel approaches being considered to get the good Fringe ship sailing for 2010, but mark our words: no stone will be left unturned, no door won't be knocked and no metaphor will be left unmixed for the 20th anniversary New Zealand Fringe Festival – even if it includes hocking off the Fringe team that was appointed this week.
