Coffee Art Throw-down
- The Wellingtonista
- Twitter has informed us that Mojo Old Bank (@mojooldbank) and the Mojo on the Terrace are having a coffee art throw-down at 6.30pm tonight at the Mojo located in the PWC Building on the Terrace (map here). There is talk of beer and pizza for those wanting to watch the action. I think we could be up for some coffee porn this evening.....

Newtown: it's sometimes more than a bit shit
- The Wellingtonista
- On Wednesday night, our next door neighbours were burgled. It's times like this that I need to be reassured of the good things in Newtown. Things like: * The otters at the zoo! * The haloumi at Cafe Kialis * The macademia & chicken salad at Baobob What are your favourite things about Newtown right now?

Off the Hook
- The Wellingtonista
- While the Hook of Maui has been scrapped due to cost overruns and problems with the frickin' laser, the Wellington City Council is still keen on the idea of a gateway sculpture, and indeed the competition will be re-run later his year.

Fair Enough Wellington

Good Night The End – 11 September, Downstage Theatre
- Texture
- The capacity crowd at the opening night of Jo Randerson’s Good Night – The End was a testament to the reputation that Randerson, and her production company Barbarian Productions, had cultivated over the years… or perhaps the slightly unnerving publicity stint that saw grim reapers, courtesy of the Binge Culture Collective, wander round town…

City Gallery a-go-go!
- Texture
- he City Gallery has had its doors closed since last October for a whopping four million dollar upgrade... an upgrade that included a touch of seismic strengthening and a fancy-dancy new two-storey expansion... but those doors are set to fly-open next weekend as they host one hell of a come-back party in the Civic Square! Woohoooo!

Shared Pictures; Shared Spaces
- Eye of the Fish
- The proposed Manners Mall makeover is relatively uninteresting, as was expected. However, given that this design is clearly indicating that the Mall become a ’shared street’, it raises concerns about how the interaction between buses and pedestrians will play out.

Wellington weeps

Wellington is a good place to get shipwrecked
- The Wellingtonista
- We've written before about the fire at the Maranui Surf Cafe, and how bloody sad that was, but it's kind of bloody lovely to see the way that this city can be all small-town-like and good-hearted, with yet more events planned to raise money for the cause.
