- Glen Wallis writes: It is with sadness that I advise that former member Chris (Scott) Wanick lost his long battle with cancer on Thursday. Chris will be rembered for his strength, courage and dignity. Chris’s funeral will be held at Old St Pauls on Monday, 5 December, at 11am.

Southland Marathon – 13 November

- Michael Wray reports: What a day, with no wind, no clouds and a glorious hot summer sun – the exact opposite of the course conditions one week earlier, when they’d had quite a load of snow and cancelled the athletics in the finishing stadium! I finished in 2:55:12 for a new PB, came 4th overall and 3rd in the M35+ category.

Prizegiving

- The club prizegiving on Saturday 19th November will take place at the Newtown Park function room following the end of the have a go day. It will kick off with a feed at 5.30pm (so please bring a plate) and a BYO social hour, with the prizegiving itself starting at 6.30pm. There are shower facilities available at Newtown Park.

Stef wins Hamilton’s Round the Bridges 12k

Rimutaka Railway Fun Run

- Nick Whalley reports: Sally Nash, Josie Askin, Bev and Tim Hodge, Nick Whalley, Bruce McCallum and others ran the Rimutaka Incline, 18.4 k fun run on Saturday, 12 November 2011, in calm but cloudy weather. Sally and Josie placed 2nd and 3rd respectively in the women’s division and Josie won the coveted $800 travel voucher!

Hutt City Triathlon – Naenae Pool

- Two Scottish members, Thomas McCallum and Paul Rodway, took on the low-key, season opener, reverse tri this morning (R4/B18/S300). In support were Don Dalgliesh, Nat and Deano Gaskin (actually supporting his debutante sister). Former Scottish member, Mick Finn, provided the commentary, suggesting the 300 or competitors were part of the “Occupy Naenae” movement.
