Petition to extend the boundary of the off-leash dog exercise area in Trelissick Park.
- 9 Jul 2009
- Wellington City Council
- Petition for the extension of the off-leash dog exercise area boundary so it starts at entrance number six on Kaiwharawhara Road (bottom of Ngaio Gorge) and ends at entrance number two on Waikowhai Street (by Crofton Downs Railway Station). Karori Cemetery to allow dogs to walk unleashed between agreed hours of before 9am and after 6pm.
- 7 May 2009
- Wellington City Council
- I would like to suggest dogs should be allowed to walk unleashed between agreed hours. I suggest before 9am and after 6pm. This area could start after the small Chapel. This would be similar to those areas that allow dogs on beaches.

Make it a dog’s right to bark during daylight hours
- 6 Oct 2008
- Wellington City Council
- This petition is to stop the Council from enforcing rules on pet-owners which aim to stop dogs barking during the day in response to complaints. Dogs should have a right to bark during the day while owners are working. Complaints on dogs barking should only be responded to if the dog is barking at night, and therefore hindering sleep.

Petition for adequate safety lighting in official dog exercise areas
- 5 Jun 2008
- Wellington City Council
- Currently no adequate lighting is provided in official dog exercise areas, posing a safety risk to dog owners. Dogs can be exercised in designated areas only. This is important for dogs’ health and well-being, yet without lighting many owners do not feel safe in winter months, forcing them to seek other, better-lit (but not official) exercise areas. We request that at least the most popular, well fenced exercise areas be supplied with lighting adequate for dog-exercising and personal safety.

Lighting in dog exercise parks
- 22 Apr 2008
- Wellington City Council
- Currently there is no adequate lighting provided in dog exercise areas in the Wellington City/Town Belt area. This is not only a personal safety issue for the dog walker but for the community. Dogs that are exercised and socialised regularly are well-balanced and less likely to display behavioural problems. Specifically we request that at least one exercise park in the Town belt area be supplied with lighting adequate for dog-exercising and personal safety.
